Our Vision

When it matters, choose Collins.

We manufacture easy-to-use towing equipment that keeps operators safes and allows them to haul any vehicle where it needs to go.

Our History

The history of Collins Manufacturing dates back to the mid 20th century as the Hassell family grew up in the bustling timber economy.  Collins Hassell and his brothers had followed their father’s career in the logging and trucking industry and originally created a company called Hassell Fabrication in 1954.  The company still operates today.  Hassell Fabrication specializes in building logging bunks for carrying heavy timber loads to support the bountiful logging industry in Oregon.

As time went on, Collins identified another need--this time for an articulating self-loading tow dolly.  Since Collins had developed expertise in manufacturing products for the logging industry designed to carry loads up to 50,000 pounds, he was confident he could transform his knowledge to design a product capable of handling cars and trucks.  His idea was a success, and Collins founded Collins Manufacturing in 1972 as the exclusive manufacturer of the Hi-Speed Dolly.

Collins Manufacturing has continued to be an industry leader and Tower's Choice™ for the past 49 years.  The company is still family-owned, although it has passed down from Collins Hassell to his son Curtis Hassell and then finally to his grandson, Chris Hassell.

Our current manufacturing and distribution functions are located at 301 Ehrman Way in Medford, Oregon.  We’re proud to have ____ employees on our team, and our company continues to grow.

What We Do

We are the industry leader for manufacturing top-of-the-line towing equipment for businesses in the towing industry.  Our Collins Hi-Speed Dolly has been the choice of towing operators for the past 49 years.  Our product line contains the Hi-Speed Dolly, Carrier Dolly, and other towing products and accessories.

Our formula is simple.  We produce a finite set of products that meet the needs of towing professionals:  our equipment is safe to use, it’s durable enough to get tough jobs done, and it’s extremely easy to operate.  You won’t find us getting lost trying to figure out “the next big thing.”  Instead, we do what we do best with the utmost precision to make the best product in the industry.  It’s a recipe for success that’s made us the preferred towing equipment supplier for the industry for half of a century.

What We Look for in Team Members

We are a team-based organization driven to produce high-quality equipment with safety as our top priority.  Towing operators rely on our products every day to be reliable, safe, and simple to operate.  We are obsessed with precision and attention to detail to ensure every product leaving our facility meets our high standards.

Successful team members have these qualities:

  • They are committed to performing at their best every day.
  • Have an eagerness to learn.
  • Exhibit problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Are reliable and show up for work on time and as scheduled.
  • Work cooperatively with other team members.
  • Respect our team and our clients.
  • Perform work according to our safety standards.
  • Enjoy the challenges of a fast-paced environment.

Previous work experience isn’t a deal-breaker, but having a background in engineering, machinery, welding, fabrication, or construction is helpful to show proven qualifications for the work.  The completion of an internship or vocational work-study program is considered as we select future team members.
