When did AAA, the popular roadside assistance service, begin?
AAA or “Triple A” as its frequently called, was founded in 1915 with five motorcyclists who worked for the Automobile Club of St. Louis. They initially called their organization the “First Aid Corps” and proactively drove around the city looking for stranded motorists to help for free. The service was so successful that local automobile dealers sold memberships with the purchase of vehicles off their lots.
